Wrong-Way Drunk Driver Nearly Strikes Somerville Cruiser

Erick Giron Ramirez was arrested after an incident in the area of Medford and Tennyson Streets.

Somerville police arrested an unlicensed motorist for allegedly driving drunk down the wrong side of the road after nearly smashing into their cruiser.

Erick Giron Ramirez was arrested on Nov. 6 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and failing to stop for police.

According to police, Ramirez drove in front of a the cruiser on Medford Street around 10:30 p.m. Police said they were forced jam on the brakes in order to avoid a collision. Ramirez was allegedly spotted driving up the wrong side of the road on Tennyson Street.

Police later approached Ramirez and he admitted to drinking multiple beers. They said he smelled of booze. He was arrested at the scene.
