SUDBURY, MA — If you’re like many of your Sudbury neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Sudbury area.

Here are six local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Sudbury Doing Good is an informal affinity group of Sudbury, MA nonprofits, community groups and Town departments.
- Sudbury Food Pantry has been operating for over 30 years. The organization provides food and toiletries to clients in 78 cities and towns.
- Sudbury Valley Trustees works to protect natural areas and farmland for wildlife and people in the 36 communities that surround the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord Rivers.
- Camp Casco helps childhood cancer survivors thrive.
- Friends of Sudbury Senior Citizens have been a significant source of support to the Sudbury Senior Center.
- Buddy Dog Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter; over 1,000 homeless and abandoned animals each year find a new home through our shelter.
