SUDBURY, MA — After a "very successful" first few weeks, the swimming area at Camp Sewataro will be closed this weekend for maintenance.

The Sewataro swimming pond opened June 29 for weekends until Sept. 2. Swimmers will have to sign up for spots in advance across two separate morning and afternoon sessions. Each session will be limited to 100 swimmers.

"The first few weekends of the Sudbury Resident Swim program have been very successful (and very hot)! It has been a pleasure to have so many visitors! In order to perform some pond maintenance and to give our staff a well-deserved break, the pond will be closed the weekend of July 20-21," Kristen Drummey, the Sewataro town liaison said in a message about the closure.

This is the first swimming season for residents after the town bought the property in 2019. The town entered into a five-year agreement in 2022 with a manager to oversee the property, and run summer camp programs there.

The camp is already accepting reservations for the next swimming weekend on July 27 and 28.
