Shelter to Open Monday; Sudbury Town Offices Closed
A shelter will open Monday at 8 a.m.

The following announcement is from the Sudbury Town Manager Maureen Valente:
In accordance with the request of Gov. Patrick to have all non-essential personnel remain at home and stay off the roads, Sudbury Town offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 29. This includes Flynn Building, Town Hall, Fairbank Community Center (including Atkinson Pool, Council on Aging, and Recreation offices and services), the Goodnow Library and non-essential offices at the Public Works department. Sudbury Public Schools and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School have also announced closure for Monday.
We are asking all residents to shelter in place, and take all precautions as suggested by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) However, if you do need to leave your home, a shelter will be opened at the Fairbank Community Center beginning at 8 am Monday morning. Sudbury's CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) will be staffing the shelter.
Cots will be available but residents should bring medications and other personal items needed, within reason. Supplies at the shelter are limited, so please bring food items with you.
In case of emergency, please call 911 to reach the Sudbury Public Safety Dispatch Center. Please do not call this number for any non-emergency questions, and use the business line at the Police Station instead: 978-443-1042.
The biggest concern for Sudbury will be from sustained high winds, which can bring down branches and wires. DO NOT APPROACH ANY DOWNED WIRES. To report power outages, call NSTAR 1-800-592-2000.
Please continue to follow media reports for updates on Hurricane Sandy and
information from Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). And
remember to check on your neighbors who may live alone and would appreciate someone checking in on them. Stay safe.
