The event is at Sudbury United Methodist Church.

SUDBURY, MA —There will be a vigil in Sudbury this month in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The Roundtable and the Sudbury United Methodist Church will join together to host the Shine A Light Vigil at 7 p.m. on Oct. 23. The event will honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence in the past year, recognize those surviving abuse today and call people to work to prevent abuse in the community.

A survivor is set to speak at the event, and community leaders from Wayland, Sudbury and Lincoln will participate in the program.

“At a time when budget cuts to life-saving programs are happening at the state level and being threatened at the federal level, and survivors are increasingly worried about their safety, it is even more important for our communities to stand up and show support for those who are being affected,” wrote the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable in a news release. “Please join the Roundtable for this very important community event.”

The event will be at the Sudbury United Methodist Church, which is located at 251 Old Sudbury Rd.
