Sudbury Health Department Collecting Hazardous Waste

In late March, Sudbury residents can dispose of any hazardous materials that fit the town's criteria.

SUDBURY, MA - The Sudbury Health Department will be collecting hazardous waste next month.

According to their announcement on Facebook, the Sudbury board of health is holding a hazardous waste collection day on March 29.

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. residents can drop off a wide variety of hazardous materials at the department of public works building on Old Landcaster Road. Residents must sign up ahead of time.

The following categories and items will be accepted:

  • From the workbench:
    • Oil-based points (no latex)
    • Stains and varnishes
    • Wood preservatives
    • Paint strippers and thinners
    • Lighter fluid
    • Fiber glass resins
    • Solvents
    • Adhesives
  • From the garage:
    • Gasoline, kerosene and fuel
    • Motor oil
    • Car batteries
    • Engine degreaser and brake fluid
    • Carburator clean
    • Lighter fluid
    • Transmission fluid
    • Car wax and polishes
    • Driveway sealer and rooting tar
    • Swimming pool chemicals
  • From the yard:
    • Poisons
    • Insecticides
    • Fungicides
    • Chemical fertilizers
    • Wood killer and moth balls
    • Flea control products
  • From the house:
    • Rubber cement
    • Photo chemicals
    • Chemistry sets
    • Hobby and art supplies
    • Furniture, floor and metal polish
    • Oven, toilet and drain cleaners
    • Spot remover
    • Rug and upholstery cleaner
    • Fire extinguishers
    • Mercury containment devices
    • Fluorescent bulbs.
