Sudbury Police Warn Residents of 'IRS' Scam

Phone calls are not coming from the agency.

A local resident reported to the Sudbury Police Department earlier this month about harassing phones, warning he would be arrested if an outstanding debt wasn't paid.

According to Lt. Robert Grady, the resident said the calls came from an agency stating it was part of the investigative arm of the IRS.

The resident reported the calls came on more than one occasion.

"It’s not IRS putting this out," Grady said.

The resident was given an address to make the payment, which Grady said is a fake address.

"Just be aware," he said. "Some people can be intimated by this. Be sure it’s an agency and don’t call the number back. If it’s any agency you can go online and look for the number to call."
