Drainage Project Will Significantly Affect Swampscott Traffic
If you're a frequent driver on Route 1A, you'll need to rethink your route.

A major drainage project on Route 1A (Paradise Road) in Swampscott will significantly alter traffi patterns beginning next week and continuing until November.
Swampscott police outlined the following plan:
- Southbound (Lynn-bound) traffic will be diverted up Franklin Avenue, left on Stetson Avenue and right on Norfolk Avenue before continuing back to Route 1A.
- Northbound traffic will continue to utilize Route 1A toward Salem.
The project and detour are expected to begin Monday, Aug. 24 and remain in place until mid-November, according to an announcement from police.
