SWAMPSCOTT, MA — North Shore residents who have taken to commuting into Boston using the new Lynn ferry service will be able to do so for another few weeks this fall after the MBTA said it was extending service to East Boston, Winthrop and Lynn.

East Boston and Winthrop service will be extended until Nov. 30, while Lynn service is extended through Oct. 31. Salem Ferry service also runs through Oct. 31.

The Lynn ferry service, which began earlier this summer at the same time that the Sumner Tunnel shutdowns forced many North Shore commuters to find creative ways into Boston each day, runs from the Blossom Street dock to and from Boston's Central Wharf near the New England Aquarium.
