3 North Shore Victims Of Apparent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Identified

UPDATE: Officials identified three adult members of a Nahant family who were found dead in a home with elevated levels of carbon monoxide.

NAHANT, MA — Three members of a North Shore family were found dead Monday night in what Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker called a case of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Nahant Police Chief Timothy Furlong and Fire Chief Austin Antrim said that their crews, as well as those from the Essex County District Attorney's Office detectives, were at the home on Cottage Street Monday night where the bodies of the three adults were found.

Officials said they were doing a well-being check at the single-family home when the bodies were discovered along with elevated carbon monoxide levels.

The Essex DA's Office on Tuesday night identified the victims as 77-year-old John Benson, his 74

year-old sister-in-law, Youngae Benson, and 45-year-old Andrew Carruth, who was the nephew of John Benson.

Foul play was not expected, and there was considered no wider danger to the community or the North Shore, according to Furlong on Monday night.
