North Shore Teen Shot Dead Outside Of Market Basket

Essex County DA Paul Tucker said the victim was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital on Saturday night.

LYNN, MA — A 17-year-old found shot in his crashed car outside of a Lynn Market Basket was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital on Saturday night.

Lynn police said the teen was found in his car on Federal Street at about 9 p.m. on Saturday after they responded to a report of shots fired. Police said an initial investigation indicated that it was not a random act.

"This is another example of the devastating impact of gun violence on the lives of our young people," Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said. "Our hearts are with the family of the victim. We will work diligently to achieve justice on their behalf."

Massachusetts State Police and Lynn police were seeking the public's help with any information that could lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects in the case.
