Swampscott Man Arrested for OUI Following Crash in Marblehead

A Swampscott man was arrested for drunk driving in Marblehead early Thursday morning after he allegedly hit a telephone pole on Atlantic Avenue.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., police got a call from a resident who said a car had hit a telephone pole on Atlantic Avenue and fled the scene.

Police found the suspect’s vehicle near Atlantic Avenue and Bubier Road. The car had damage and debris inside, according to police.
Alex John Sverker, 20, of 32 Hillcrest Circle in Swampscott was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.
