Swampscott Police Catch Christmas Eve Burglar

Dante Diodati, 27, of Gloucester, was ordered held without bail for multiple car breakins in Swampscott on Christmas Eve.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Gloucester man who committed multiple car break-ins in Swampscott on Christmas Eve was ordered held without bail following his arraignment in Lynn District Court Thursday. Dante Diodati, 27, of Gloucester, also had his bail revoked from an earlier case in Peabody. Swampscott police said in a Facebook post they caught Diodati "with the help of an alert resident."

According to a police report, Diodati told police he broke into "seven or eight" cars on Mostyn Street, Bellevue Road, Clark Road and Beach Bluff Avenue. He also said he stole a television and an Xbox from a garage. Diodati told police he had struggled with additcition and wrote an apology that was submitted as part of the police report.
