Swampscott Resident Named Town's New Recreation Director

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Swampscott resident and town meeting member, with a two-decade track record of activity in the schools and town programs, will become the new director of the Recreation Department next month.

Charlotte Daher de García succeeds long-time director Danielle Strauss, who retired after more than two decades of building inclusive, vibrant programming for the community.

Daher de García has experience in community engagement, communications, and programming. She is also a mother of two, was co-president of the Hadley PTO, and remains an active member of the Swampscott Elementary School PTO.

She is an active boater and member of the Swampscott Yacht Club, where she manages member communications, and is a board member of Big Blue Youth Football and Cheer.

"I am honored to step into this role and continue the incredible work Danielle has done for our town," Daher de García said. "Swampscott is a close-knit, coastal community with deep traditions and a strong sense of pride. I'm excited to help steer the next chapter, bringing new energy, creative programming, and expanded communication efforts to keep our community moving forward, together."

She is also fluent in Spanish and Arabic, positioning her to engage more inclusively with Swampscott’s increasingly diverse community.

"Her professional background, deep community ties, and forward-thinking approach make her uniquely suited to guide our recreation programs into the future while honoring the strong foundation Danielle built."

Daher de García will begin her role the first week of August.
