'Police Activity' Disrupts North Shore Commuter Rail Service in Salem, Swampscott Stretch
The MBTA said on Tuesday morning that the shuttle bus service was in use due to the police activity between Salem and Swampscott stations.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Commuter rail service was disrupted on the North Shore Tuesday morning because of what MBTA officials called "police activity" between Salem and Swampscott stations.
Multiple media reports said a man was struck and killed on the tracks at about 10 a.m.

Passengers were being shuttled between Salem and Swampscott during the mid-morning hours before either reboarding trains outbound in Salem to Rockport and Newburyport or inbound from Swampscott to North Station.
"Passengers on Newburyport/Rockport Line trains continue to experience severe delays in both directions due to police activity near Swampscott," MBTA officials said at about 11 a.m.

The MBTA said at about noon that normal train service was resuming on the Newburyport/Rockport Line but "passengers will continue to experience delays as only one track is currently open."
The MBTA said the bus service between Swampscott and Salem was being phased out early in the afternoon.
