Swampscott Senior Dog 'Trudy' Found After Being Taken From Front Yard

UPDATE: Swampscott police said the dog was in the process of being reunited with her owner late Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The 14-year-old Swampscott hound mix reported taken from the front yard of a Bates Road home on Tuesday was located later in the day and was in the process of being returned to her owners.

Swampscott police had sought the public's help in identifying the van involved with the possible theft of the senior dog on Tuesday morning.

Police released surveillance footage of a man and a woman who appeared to be coaxing Trudy from the front yard at about 10 a.m.

Police released an update late in the afternoon saying that the dog had been found.

A person identifying himself as the dog's owner on social media said the dog was located in Canton — about 40 miles away.

Police thanked those who shared the information and surveillance video for assisting in Trudy's safe trip home.
