5 Things You Need To Know Today, August 17

Before you start your day, here are 5 things you need to know:

1. Sunny Day -- Looks like we survived the soggy weather and it's on to more favorable skies. The National Weather Service is calling for a sunny day with highs in the mid to upper 80's. 

2. Elections -- Candidate for U.S. Senate Tom Conroy will stop in Tewksbury today as part of his "600-mile town to town walk." Residents can meet Conroy at at 11:30 a.m. 

3. PJ Party -- The will hold a tonight at 7 p.m. at the library. 

4. Tryouts -- fall sports tryouts will begin on Monday. We've listed the tryout schedule on the site.

5. On This Day -- In 1939 Wizard of Oz opened.
