Tewksbury Resident Stars In NDA's Production of 'The Odd Couple'

Bringing a fresh take to a comedy classic, the Academy of Notre Dame Tyngsboro DramaGuild is producing "The Odd Couple" this fall with a twist. The two mismatched roommates are women.

Olive Madison and Florence Ungar, are the main characters in this fun and updated female-version of Neil Simon's classic comedy. When a hopelessly habitual slob and a compulsively meticulous neurotic become roommates, the resulting clash becomes a comic masterpiece!

Senior Katie Dumas of Tewksbury and Sophomore Hannah Paquette of Tyngsboro star in the leads roles. Both girls are veterans of past Drama Guild productions although this will be their first time working with new drama guild director Amy Basbas.

“When I was approached about putting up a fall production, I was on board right away,” said Basbas. “I was thrilled that we might get to do a show in addition to the annual musical, especially to benefit students who enjoy acting, but not quite singing.”

“Over the summer I researched dozens of shows, and decided that a comedy would be best for our first fall production. Everyone loves agood laugh! This show seemed perfect as a mostly female, but small cast, and by such a well-known playwright as Neil Simon. I think the cast would agree that we've been having a blast working on this show,” said Basbas.
