For the past several years, students have participate in the “Be My Valentine” Project by making handmade Valentines that bring cheer to the patients at the Tewksbury State Hospital. Since this is a take-home project, children are able to share and work on making Valentines with their families. It is a very rewarding service project which brings joy and kindness to our community.

This year, 180 students handcrafted 276 Valentines. Student volunteers decorated cards with beautiful drawings, stickers, doilies and hearts. Caring sentiments included “Love is all around,” “Hug me,” “Sending you a smile, warm wishes and lots of love,” “I hope your Valentine’s Day is as awesome as cookies,” and even shout outs to the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots. It is evident that each card was handmade with love. Way to go Dew-Gooders!
