Firefighters Battle Tewksbury 3-Alarm Fire In Large Commercial Garage

Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire, quickly bringing several departments for mutual aid. One worker was injured in the fire.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Firefighters from several communities battled a 3-alarm fire in a commercial garage at 464 Woburn St. on Saturday morning.

Firefighters arrived at about 9:40 a.m. and reported smoke showing and fire out of the back door of one of the garages. Command requested a second and third alarm, bringing mutual aid from other fire departments. Crews fought the fire in windy, smokey conditions and were able to contain the damage to five of the fourteen bays in the building.

The garages were filled with different types of vehicles and chemicals used in the garages.

It took about three hours to bring the fire under control, and crews remained at the scene doing an overhaul for most of the day.

One worker suffered minor injuries; they were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and then released.

Tewksbury Fire is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
