Former Tewksbury Resident Was Single Mother of Three

Dorothy L. (Homer) Gretsky, age 88, a former resident of Tewksbury, died peacefully Monday afternoon, August 11, at Charwell House in Norwood, after a long period of declining health.

Dorothy was born in Chelsea, on February 12, 1926, one of nine children of the late Joseph and Marion (Barry) Homer. She was raised in Chelsea, and lived in Tewksbury, before retiring to Norwood in 1981. While devoting her life to her family as a single mother of three, she worked as a sales clerk in several area department stores.

In Norwood, she was Past President of the Norwood Housing Association, and was well known in the Bingo circles in the greater Norwood area.

She leaves two children, Walter Gretsky of Pinelas Park, FL, Maureen Martin of Norwood; four beloved grandchildren, Matthew Martin of Boston, John Martin Jr. of Sharon, Michael Martin of No. Attleboro, and Brendan Gretsky of FL; two sisters, Marion Capano of Burlington, and Alice Generazzo of Wakefield, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also mother of the late John Gretsky, who died in 1997.

Relatives and friends will be received Friday, August 15, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
