Indoor, All-Electric Go-Kart Racing Coming to the Area

K1 Speed is set to open on Fordham Road in Wilmington this fall.

If you have the need for speed, something pretty cool is coming to Wilmington in the form of an indoor, all-electric go-kart racing facility with the soon to open K1 Speed Boston.

K1 Speed is set to open in Wilmington sometime in November company officials told Wilmington Patch. The new facility will be located on Fordham Road.

“We knew that we had our hearts set on opening another location just north of Boston,” says K1 Speed Marketing Manager Andrew Palos. “We are thrilled to be opening in one of America’s most loved and historic cities.”

K1 Speed’s go-karts are not your grandfather’s. Their karts approach speeds of 45 mph and are all-electric producing zero emissions.

While there are no age restrictions, there are height requirements.

For adult karts you will need to be a minimum of 4’10”. For the junior karts you will need to be at least 4’ tall.

Besides go-kart racing on a professionally designed indoor track, the center will have an extensive collection of authentic racing memorabilia, video arcade, pool tables, spacious lobby, pit cafe and meeting/party room.

K1 currently has 32 other locations nationwide including one in Kingston, MA.
