The Sonics D was amazing keeping a high scoring Pacer team to a miserly 17 points. Alexis Chaet ruled under the boards grabbing rebounds stuffing shots and shutting down the Pacers inside game and Kenzie Wyatt worked her magic on the parameter keeping the Pacers off balanced on the outside earning them both defensive players of the game. Monica Aronson and Kathleen Silk both did a phenomenal job of keeping the ball out of the key and adding to the potent Sonic defense. A great game played by both teams!!!
Scoring for the Pacers were Haley Acconcia with 6 points, Mackenze Pierce with 3 points, and Carlye Slavin, Amanda Brown, Erin Walsh, and Lindsey Cossar, all with 2 points each.

SPURS 23 MAGIC 22
It was a very physical game today and the Magic came up just short against the Spurs this week in senior league play. The Magic had a number of good shooting opportunities during the game but the shots were not falling today. It is a credit to the Spurs as their defense was extremely aggressive and made the Magic take more long shots than they are usually accustomed to. The Magic were without Meaghan Blaisdell and Alexsay Zemetres as both players are suffering through wrist injuries. On offense the Magic were led by Shannel Nardone (9points) and Nichole Hamel (6points). The defense was also very good for the Magic particularly by Rachel Eatherton, Michelle Creedon and Kertrina Nardone. Kelly Quigley (3points) and Olivia Gallella (2points) were playing good defense and moving the ball well but the Spurs seemed to be everywhere today. Eva Barinelli (2points) and Samantha Teague continue to get better every game and will surely anchor this team next year along with Michelle Creedon. It was tough going on the offensive and defensive boards for the Magic as they were battered and bruised down low. The game came down to the last 7 seconds and last shot which was a good baseline drive by Shannel Nardone and up on the other side with a contested shot attempt but it just didn’t fall today and the Spurs prevailed.
Scoring for the Spurs were Shannon McLaughlin with 7 points, June Garcia with 4 points, Haley Golini with 3 points, Jamie Ray, Jamie Fowler and Devlin Frost with 2 points each, and Leanne Lozowski and Kelsey Bradley with 1 point each.
BLAZER 37 JAZZ 33
For the second week in a row, the Jazz were involved in a back and forth game, but lost in overtime to the Blazers. Trailing by one, with clock running down, Shannon Semenza was fouled with no time left. She made the second of two free throws to force the game into OT. Although they did not win, the girls continue to compete ever week and are getting contributions from everybody on the team.
Scoring for the Blazers were Ashley Kelly with 13 points, Ally Braciska with 12 points, Brooke Patterson with 6 points, Ariana Calouro with 4 points, and Caleigh Finneral with 2 points.
JUNIOR LEAGUE
ROCKERS 14 LYNX 7
The Rockers put together a very nice team win this past Saturday against a good Lynx team. The Rockers won their game because of great team defense and some great passing and fast breaks. The team was very excited about this big win. Jessica Potito, Jacquelyn Marchant, Hannah Maffeo and Bianca Araya all played very well on defense. Scoring was lead by Hannah Knoops (4), Jocelyn Stavros (4), Sarah Bishop (4) and Amanda Clarke (2). The Rockers are continuing to show weekly improvements to all aspects of their game.
The Lynx fell to the Rockers on Saturday. The Lynx were much improved on defense from the previous week and were just missing on the offensive end. The Rockers played great on both sides of the ball to come away with the victory. The Lynx just have to sharpen their effort in order to get back in the win column after four straight losses. Scoring for the Lynx were Carolyn Versackas with 3, Emily Woods and Lily Wyatt with 2. Every player on the team came away with at least one rebound which shows that the effort was there on defense. Nadia Schena looked great at point guard and will look to play this position more the rest of the season. Jessica Caredeo has a lot of nice looks at the basket but could not get a shot to fall. Keep shooting Jessica!! Kendall Donahoe, Lauren McIntyre, and Janine Richardson deserve credit for their defensive effort. Lauren Crupi pulled down some nice rebounds. Grace Morris had a couple of steals and kept playing despite twisting her ankle. Marissa Brangiforte continues to improve at point guard and also took some nice shots. The Lynx look to right this ship next week against coaches old team (the Storm).
COMETS 15 MONARCHS 5
The Comets offense today was rough, but still managed to squeak by the Monarchs. Leading the charge was Erin Gallella (6) and along with Lizzie Gallella (2) both girls were a charging force as they drove to the net several times and were super tough on defense. Caitlin Panessiti netted 4 big points followed by Felicia Ragucci with 2 and rounding out the scoring was Allison Couillard with 1 point as she dropped one of two foul shots. Great defensive efforts by Rachel Conway, Bridget Burgoyne, Michaela Svendsen, Madsion Bugley and Emily Langone as all girls were able to grab key rebounds and keep good pressure while on defense. Leanne Durham, played her toughest defensive game today and showed great poise under pressure! Defensive Players of the game were Caitlin Panessiti and Leanne Durham.
The Monarchs have shown steady improvement throughout the season and today they faced the undefeated Comets in a repeat of their Week 2 matchup. At their initial meeting the Monarchs had a hard time finding any sort of rhythm on the floor and did not put out a great effort. The Monarchs were not able to pull out a win, but they showed tremendous improvement and played with more discipline and focus. Scoring for the Monarchs was Erin Briley with 3 points and Haley Mignon with 2 points. Emily Amaral, Sydney Quinn, and Sarah Ciampa sparked the offensive plays with precision and energy driving the lane or finding the open player. Emma Crawson and Helen Johnson played tough in the middle shutting down the low post for the Comets. Amber Cullinan and Justine Forti played tough defense and fought for rebounds at both ends of the court. It was a solid performance but the Monarchs could not topple the well coached and selfless play of the Comets.
MYSTICS 16 STORM 4
The Mystics got back in the win column against the speedy Storm. After a tough loss the previous week they came out with attitude and high energy and got out to an early 10-0 lead. In the 2nd qtr the Mystics continued there relentless pursuit for victory with Vickie Horton and Sam Lalonde leading the young kids on the floor. They have turned into great leaders for us and show the right attitude it takes for us to be successful. The Defensive player this week has to go to the whole team because these girls all realize that it will take all of them playing at a very high level each and every game to get were we want to be in the end.
Scoring for the Storm was Jessica Cacciola with 4 points.
STARZZ 8 SPARKS 0
The Starzz continue to grow at a team each week. Great defensive effort this week. Jordyn Cavicchi 4 points, Isabella Beyloune 2 points, Kenzie Kennison 2 points. Tough as nails award goes to Marissa Ladderbush for her relentless effort and defense.
INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
JAYHAWKS 22, EAGLES 15
The Jayhawks played a speedy and talented Eagles team, and again had to come from behind to win. Haley Pozzuto was again the Jayhawks top scorer (7 points), and gave it her all on the court for her team, the prettiest being a breakaway for a lay-up and one on the foul shot. The speed of the Eagles gave the Jayhawks trouble, but Haley P., Emily Saunders, and Chelsey Pellegrino gave pursuit, and were able to slow down many of the fast breaks. Haley Marchant and Samantha Powers got bunches of rebounds, and Sam put one back for 2 points. Nicole Petherbridge (3 points) had some great assists, and shut down the Eagle's offense in the 4th, with help from Andrea Doran and Emily Burns. The girls defense in the 4th quarter thankfully created some offense to come behind for the win with Arianna Nicosia scoring 4 of her season high 6 points in the 4th, and Meg Braciska scoring all 4 of her points in the 4th quarter. Defensive player of the game was Emily Saunders. Good luck to the Eagles who played a great game.
The Eagles have played all year with a fierce drive and effort and despite another close loss; they showed the Jayhawks they are a team to be reckoned with. The Eagles played well and kept the Jayhawks on their toes keeping it close all game and ending the 3rd quarter with a one-point lead.
Tough defense in the 2nd quarter by Megan Donahue, and Jennifer Campbell and strong rebounding by Adrianna Favreau led to a close game at the half. More defense in the 3rd quarter by Geena Duffy and Nicole Leggiero opened up room for Marissa Doherty to score 6 of her 10 points and Shaylee Puleo to add 4 more. Katie Adelsberger fought for a rebound, was fouled and made a free throw for another of the Eagle points in the quarter. The 4th quarter was a toughly contested battle but the Jayhawks were able to pull away despite the full court teamwork of Megan Donahue and Sammy Surowiec and tough defense of Jess Leggiero.
WILDCATS 27 VS COUGARS 13
Wildcats once again started a bit slow out of the gate but came out strong in the 2nd quarter throughout the end. High scorers this week were Ally Kelly and Katie Dunlevy with an outstanding 8 points each. Janina Kennedy followed with 4, Rebekah Politis with 3, and Audrey Casey and Shauna Danehy each with 2. Heather Doyle and Julia Kelly were a strong force on defense. Erin Davis played hard under the boards with many rebounds and Teagan Trant played a fantistic all around game. Nice win for the Wildcats.
The Cougars 3 game winning streak came to an end on Saturday. They played a very tough Wildcats team and weren't able to get too much going against them. In the first qtr the Cougars put up lots of shots but most of them didn't fall for them, but they held tough on defense and came out with a 5-0 lead after 1. Going into the 4th qtr the Cougars were looking at a huge scoring hole they needed to climb out of. They continued to fight until the final buzzer and showed alot of determination but came up shot in the end. We will continue to work hard this week to improve and get ready for the very talented Huskies next week.
HUSKIES 26 WOLVERINES 14
The Huskies played another strong defensive game. The Huskies got great defensive from all 10 players. Defensive player of the game was Kayla Marshall. Offensively the Huskies got scoring from Stephanie McHatton, Victoria Mirabito, Kayla Marshall and Sara Letourneau and high scorer Karalyn Gallella.
The Wolverines ran into a very good Huskies team this past Saturday. Rachel Langone had her best defensive game of the season, blocking shots, causing turnovers and pulling down rebounds. Miranda Hulme put forth another solid performance on defense playing tough underneath the boards along with Nora Butler. Amanda McInnis lead the Wolverines in scoring with 6 points while Katie Garcia & Amanda McInnis chipped in with 4 points each. Wolverines Defensive Players of the game were Miranda Hulme,
Nora Butler, and Rachel Langone.
CARDINALS 18 VS. FALCONS 8
The Cardinals came away with a hard fought victory over a tough Falcons team. Emily Velozo was the spark for the team with 9 steals, 12 points, and even 1 blocked shot. This was a team effort however with every player contributing to the win. Sam Mercurio had 2 points and many steals. Sarah Sullivan played great defense and had an assist. Ashley Figucia netted 4 points and played her best defense of the season. Caitlin Carroll playing as designated player still was able to lead the team in rebounds. Caroline Ferrari showed great skill at the point guard position with no turnovers. Olivia Powers pulled down some nice rebounds and for the fourth week in a row had some nice shots at the basket. Tayla Spezzano had 2 steals and played great defense the whole game. Taylor Donahoe added 3 more blocked shots to her total (20 on the season!). Julia Noone in addition to her 2 steals took 4 shots of which 2 rolled around the rim and out…..so close Julia!!! Shannon Vasas played good defense and forced some jump balls.
