Jazz edge the Bobcats

This one was played deep in the trenches as both teams struggled to find their outside shooting touch. The Jazz jumped out to an early 1st qtr lead before the Bobcats scratched back and hung close into the 4th quarter. The Jazz had a short bench and needed the entire team to do some things differently and play out of their comfort zone to earn this victory. Leading the team on offense at the point guard position was Nicholas Valente (8  points) who drained the big shot each and every time the Bobcats seemed ready to seize the lead. Petros Nacopoulos played a tremendous game rotating between the forward & guard positions and dropping in 7 points of his own. Billy Petherbridge was hot early-on, laying in 6 of his 8 points in the first half. Rich Pachucki (4 points), Kyle Fleury(4 points), and Nacopoulos battled under the boards and each managed to bury the big shots late in the game which allowed the Jazz to hold on for the win.

Held to only 2 points in the first quarter, the Bobcats finally came out of their cage and challenged a very competitive Jazz team for the middle two quarters. Helping to keep the game close thru the 2nd and 3rd quarters Robert Papandrea tossed in 6 points and the two centers, Mike Ladderbush and Andrew Carta, put in 4 each off of nice rebounding inside. Nick McLaughlin and Paul Salibe, teammates for the past four years, worked hard to add 3 apiece for the ‘Cats. Rounding out the scoring for the team were Matt Famiglietti and Dan Turosz both with 2 points. Matt Cocca, Patrick Leonard, and Steven Lee all worked hard driving the ball up to help set up more offensive chances for their team. The Jazz defense stepped up strong again in the 4th quarter, putting the Bobcats back in their cage and kept them scoreless for the final minutes to seal the victory.
