TEWKSBURY, MA — A man has been charged in a daytime breaking-and-entering case after he and an accomplice stole a safe from a Tewksbury home, police said.

Police responded Saturday at about 1 p.m. on a report of breaking-and-entering at a Trull Brook Lane home.

The home's residents said that they heard a loud noise at the rear of the home, then saw what appeared to be two men running away from the home carrying a safe.

Police said Burrell knew the victims and that this was not a random act.

Burrell was on parole for multiple felony charges out of Lowell District Court and was wearing an ankle monitor, though police could not determine his location was at the home at the time of the break-in.

Boston police found Burrell at 11:01 p.m. Saturday. He was arrested and taken into custody by Tewksbury police. He had $678 on him at the time, police said.

He was charged with breaking-and-entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony and larceny over $1,200.

He was scheduled for arraignment in Lowell District Court on Monday.

"I would like to thank our officers and detectives, as well as the Boston Police Department for acting quickly to apprehend this individual,” Chief Ryan Columbus said in a statement.
