Missing Toddler, Road Rage Incident Top Police Log

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

It's the worst nightmare for a parent or a grandparent. You turn away for just a moment and when you turn back around a child is gone.

Such was the case on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the McDonald's Restaurant at 1928 Main St. Two young boys had been having lunch with an older relative and were heading to their car when the oldest boy, aged 4, disappeared.

The older man whose care the boys were in looked around frantically and then had the restaurant manager call the police. According to Tewksbury Police records, the call came in at 12:24 p.m.

. The vehicle entrance and exit were immediately blocked off and officers began a search. According to a witness, the officers thoroughly searched the inside of the restaurant, including the bathrooms and storage areas.

An exterior search was also begun, including any places the toddler could have wandered off to. Finally, after about 15 terrifying minutes, the boy was spotted. He had ducked under a very large shrub in front of the restaurant, in an apparent (and ill-timed) effort to play Hide and Go Seek.
