Landers Family Seeks Answers Years After Deadly Fire

Forty-three years after a devastating fire that killed six members of the Wilmington family, the Landers are seeking answers as they hope to prove the deadly blaze was intentionally set.

A fire on September 26, 1969, was ruled electrical in nature, a common classification during that time period. However, rumors flew around town in the weeks following the tragedy that a local man bragged to friends that he had started the fire. He was rumored to have been brought in for questioning at the time, but no charges resulted.

“There isn’t much as far as evidence goes, so it has been hard,” said Fire Chief Ed Bradbury.

Liquor License Approved for Ginger Gourmet in North Reading

Management from the Ginger Gourmet Restaurant attended the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night, for the second time, to have their liquor license approved. The board voted unanimously to approve the license. The Asian restaurant, Ginger Gourmet, will be opening at 265 Main St. in lot #10. According to Manager Mark Zeng, the restaurant is going to be a first class, fine dining Asian restaurant with Chinese and Japanese food.

One Ten Grill Opens for Business

Chelmsford Street’s newest eatery is here, as Café Madrid officially became the One Ten Grill on Friday.

After years of serving Spanish cuisine, the eatery was sold to local restaurateur John Gailey recently, the latest restaurant in a string that he has owned stretching from Boston to Santa Barbara.

“Chelmsford is a great town and I think there’s a great need for this type of restaurant here,” said Gailey, noting that out of the 39 restaurants he found in Chelmsford, only three serve American-style food comparable to what is now on the menu at the One Ten Grill.

Andover Mansion Used in Larry David Film

The cast and crew for the new Larry David movie "Clear History" all moved into a 6.5 million home on Haggetts Pond Road Thursday in order to film scenes for the upcoming HBO Original film, according to the Eagle Tribune.

The movie production crew was only expected to be in Andover, for one day.

“The state’s terrific crews, talent base and natural beauty perfectly complement the vision of our extraordinary filmmakers and cast,” said Len Amato, HBO Films president, in a statement.
