TEWKSBURY, MA— When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Elaine Walsh who nominated the Tewksbury Piecemakers.

Home town: Tewksbury

Hero's job: Community organization.

Relationship to nominee: President of guild

Reason for recognition: The Tewksbury Piecemakers have been doing their part to help in this unusual time. We met on video chat, with approximately one third of our quilters and found between 36 people, we had made over 7600 masks.

One thing to know: Some went to churches, programs for special needs adults, hospitals, and the Tewksbury Senior Center. Others went to friends, neighbors, and of course, family. We also had some members sewing isolation gowns for the staff at Tewksbury Hospital. We are so proud that we can do a small part in helping to stem the tide.

Thank you for all you do, Piecemakers!
