Do You Recognize This Man? Police Release Photos of Armed Roberry Suspect

Suspect robbed Tewksbury Mobil at gunpoint Friday night.

Tewksbury Police have released surveillance photos of the man they say

The still images, taken from surveillance video at the at 940 Andover St., show a white male entering the store at about 5:15 p.m. The suspect was described as being around 30 years old, about 5-10, wearing a white t-shirt and a black jacket.

In a press release, said the store clerk attempted, unsuccessfully, to stop the robbery.

According the police report, the suspect approached the front counter and waited until the clerk opened the cash drawer.  The suspect then reached over the counter and grabbed money from the cash drawer.  When the man reached over, the clerk grabbed him and attempted to hold on to him. However, the suspect then pulled out a black gun while clerk released him. The man then fled the store and left immediate area on foot.

In an exclusive interview with TewksburyPatch, the clerk, whose name is not being published because he is the victim of a crime, said that the suspect made off with a $100 bill and a handful of one-dollar bills. The clerk also stated that the robbery was a rare occurrence at that particular Mobil On the Run.

"I've worked here five years and this is the first time something like this has happened," said the clerk, who was unfazed by the robbery. Rather than go home, he finished out the last four-and-a-half hours of his shift after the robbery.

The clerk also said that even though the suspect left on foot, he didn't think the man lived in the neighborhood.

"The thing is, I know everyone that lives around here," he said, adding that he did not recognize the suspect.

Police believe there may be a silver vehicle associated with the suspected fleeing the area. The make and model of the vehicle are not known.
