Recent Tewksbury High Grad Receives Certificate of Academic Excellence

TEWKSBURY, MA — Alek Cranston, a 2022 graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School, has been awarded the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Certificate of Academic Excellence, according to Tewksbury Public Schools.

Cranston, who will be studying engineering at Northeastern University this fall, was presented with the award Tuesday by Tewksbury Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Theriault-Regan.

According to the district, Cranston was chosen for the honor because of his performance in the classroom and for his contribution to the school and community. Each year, one student is chosen by the superintendent to receive the Certificate of Academic Excellence.

"Alek is undoubtedly an academically gifted student and was the class of 2022 valedictorian," Theriault-Regan said. "Yet, upon meeting him you immediately see that he is truly a special person, as well. He is a caring and kind-hearted young man that happily and genuinely engages with his peers and the adults he meets. I am so very proud of Alek and know he will do amazing work in the field of engineering."
