Group 18. Zach Strahan (Jr.) W 2&17. Sean Thomann (Sr.) W 1 Up
Group 1 went out and jumped up early and helped the Redmen jump out to an early 5-0 lead when both Strahan and Thomann won both of their individual matches and also won the Best Ball Match 3&2. Strahan who has been playing really well for us lately continued that excellent play into today's match. Sean Thomann who has been in and out of matches recently also had a very good day winning his individual match. Both guys played really well together and really fed off of one another.
Group 26. Ryan Muise (Sr.) W 3&15. Mike Casey (Sr.) W 2&1
Group 2 followed up the first group with a sweep gaining all five points to add to the score and make it 10-0 after two groups. Mike Casey won his match 2&1 and has been gaining confidence every time out recently and we really hope that will continue. Mike is working his way back into his old for and gaining his confidence back everyday. Ryan Muise, who has also been struggling a little bit lately scoring but he has really worked hard to get his game straightened out and today that came through with a 3&1 win and a stroke play score of 39. Casey and Muise won their Best Ball match 2&1 as well. This was another case of two guys really feeding off of one another and playing well together.
Group 34. Derek Petti (Sr.) Flat3. Pat Doherty (Sr.) W 2&1
What has been our most consistent group all year came through once again pulling out this group by a 4-1 score to make the match score 14-1 through 3 groups. Derek Petti found himself 2 holes down with 2 holes to play in his match. He would go on to make a par and bogey on the last two holes to win both and earn a Flat in the match and gain one point for the team. Pat Doherty on the other hand was able to get up big in his match and end up winning it 2&1 after the eighth hole. Pat has also worked really hard and has run up against some bad luck in a few matches recently, but today he was able to catch some breaks and play really well today. Doherty and Petti partnered to win their Best Ball match 1 up on the ninth hole.
Group 42. Jeff Giasullo (Jr.) W 1 Up1. Tyler Slavin (Sr.) L 3&2
Jeff Giasullo was paired up with his cousin Nick Cohan in the 2 spot today. Jeffrey went out and played very well and was able to win his match 1 Up. Unfortunately for Tyler Slavin he ran up against a very hot player in Lowell's Nick Vergados who was coming off of a 2 under par round two days ago in a match against Dracut. Vergados picked up right where he left off by making three birdies en route to shooting a 1 under par 35. Tyler hung tough with Nick but he proved to be just too much for Slavin on this day beating him 3&2. Vergados and Cohan won the Best Ball match 1 up scoring three of Lowell's four points on the day and winning the group 3-2 and ending the match in favor of Tewksbury 16-4.
This was a really good win for us today. Traditionally we struggle when we go on the road but coming off of Friday's match at Haverhill and Monday's win at home against Methuen we were able to play really well today. It's something that we have talked about and have been focusing on, going on the road. We were really proud of our guys today, the way that they stepped up and played on the road. We are hoping that this will continue to help us further down the road. Tomorrow's match with Lawrence has been rescheduled and we will next be in action on Monday at home against Chelmsford and then Thursday against North Andover.
