Tewksbury Girls U14 Slips Past Andover, 3-2

Team now 2-0 after opening with 3-0 win over Billerica.

On Tuesday Night at Turf Time in Tewksbury the TYSL GU14 girls team improved to 2-0 with a hard fought 3-2 win over Andover.

The team was just put together and missed the first week of the season before beating Billerica by a 3-0 score last week.

Ashley Colarusso scored her first goal of the contest early by scoring on a throw in from the corner that bounded by the Andover keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Later in the first half Meredith Cahill pounced on a loose ball and drilled a hard shot into the lower left corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

The lead was 2-0 at the half with  Michelle Farraher throwing a shutout in the net for the locals.  The defense led by Nicole Malfa and the tenacious play of Caitlyn Leary, Kaleigh Gammons, Aria Porzio, Karah Chaisson and Hannah Silvia up front was in control of the game.

Early in the second half Colarusso took a pretty feed and drilled it into the right corner for what seemed like a comfortable 3-0 lead.   Andover was not to go without a fight  and scored two goals to make it into a game again. After the opponents netted there second goal the Tewksbury Girls came alive and controlled the remainder of the game.
