The MassHire Lowell Mobile Career Center is visiting Tewksbury! Every Wednesday from August 6-October 29, the Mobile Career Center will be parked outside the library from 10AM-2PM to help job seekers. The MassHire Lowell Mobile Career Center is a mobile bus unit that has been equipped with solar panels to power workstations within the bus to allow for Career Center services to hit the road to all of our local communities, cities and towns. It will provide information on: Career Services; Current Training Programs; Job Search Events; and Hiring Events.
IN PERSON: The Armchair Detectives Mystery Book Group

Do you love a good mystery? Join the library's Book Club, "The Armchair Detectives!" This month’s book is Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney. New members are always welcome! Copies of the book are available at the Front Desk one month prior to meeting.
OUTDOOR CONCERT SERIES: The Reminisants (Oldies Cover Band)

Enjoy a concert from The Reminisants. The Reminisants have been entertaining audiences of all ages throughout New England since 1973. The band specializes in oldies music from the 1950s through the ’90s, playing a collection of great music for all kinds of musical tastes and generations. This concert will take place on the library's back lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs.

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases – “How To Train Your Dragon” (2025). As an ancient threat endangers both Vikings and dragons alike on the isle of Berk, the friendship between Hiccup, an inventive Viking, and Toothless, a Night Fury dragon, becomes the key to both species forging a new future together. The Tewksbury Community Market takes place on Thursdays, from 4pm to 7pm, from June 5, 2025 from September 25, 2025, in the parking lot behind the Tewksbury Recreation Center at Livingston St. Park (288 Livingston Street). The market has 70 vendors overall, with 30-35 vendors present on any given week. Each week's lineup of vendors is listed on the Market's website at www.tewksburymarket.com.

A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s. The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month. The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Tewksbury Public Libraries. Meeting location rotates between Wilmington, MA and Tewksbury, MA. A limited number of copies of the book are available at the Front Desk at TPL.

VIRTUAL: Armchair Travel To Spain & France Basque Country (*RR)

Travel with Jack Holmes, the Traveling Photographer, in northeastern Spain and southwestern France in Basque Country. Visit San Sebastian, Bayonne, Pamplona and other interesting places. The Basque are an independent-minded people with a unique language that is totally different from any other European one. They are famous for their food culture and history. A local was the first world circum-navigator, the fishermen fished Newfoundland over 5 centuries ago. Hemingway wrote about the bulls in Pamplona. Holmes is the owner of "Images From Near and Far" at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell.

Learn about the astronomers whose ground-breaking, sky-opening work we should all know -- and whose lives can inspire us -- to advance our world towards a better future. Led by Dr. Bill Thierfelder, a retired college professor who taught a variety of Arts and Humanities courses for more than three decades at several New York universities and colleges.

The Library 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you. Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach.
VIRTUAL: Quaking Bogs & Fens of Massachusetts with Mass Audubon (*RR)

Scattered amongst the better-known habitats of the Commonwealth are the little-explored regions of quaking bogs and peaty-soiled fens. Sunken in the lowest contours of the landscape, these habitats' unique features include carnivorous plants, flood water absorbing sphagnum moss, showy orchids, and blueberries and cranberries. Because decomposition happens so slowly, the soil and water in bogs are very acidic which creates an opportunity for specialized species to thrive. Learn where to discover the intrigue of these fascinating habitats close to home. Led by Patti Steinman, the Education Coordinator for Mass Audubon’s Connecticut River Valley Sanctuaries, based out of Arcadia in Easthampton and Northampton.

Simon, Ph.D., a professor at New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, who leads international biology-themed travel courses and teaches online lifelong learning classes at a variety of institutions.

Barks & Books with Benny (*RR)
Tuesday, September 2, 4:30pm-5:30pm
Children (especially those struggling with reading) are invited to sign up for a one-on-one session with our service dog Benny on Tuesday afternoons. Barks and Books are open to children reading independently. Each session lasts for 15 minutes in private - just you, Benny, and his human Mom, Melanie. Bring your own book or borrow one of ours to read. This is a great way to build literacy confidence and fluency with a non-judgmental canine reading partner!
Make A Bouquet
Thursday, September 4, 3:30pm
Make your own bouquet! Monarch Ranch is bringing cut flowers to our community garden. Choose the ones you like and bring them home to enjoy. Don't forget sunscreen! We're meeting in the garden behind the library. We will move indoors to our Craft Room if there is inclement weather. This event is for children birth - grade 5. Registration is not required.
