Tewksbury Man Found With Illegal Gun: Police
After conducting a traffic stop, Tewksbury police say they found a backpack full of ammunition, two magazines, and a handgun.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A man from Tewksbury was arrested Monday after police say they found an unlicensed gun and ammunition on him.
John Shaughnessy, 45, of Tewksbury, was arraigned at Lowell District Court on Tuesday on illegal gun charges.
Police launched an investigation in the area of Ames Hill Drive on Monday, and Tewksbury police officers conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers say they found a black backpack containing two magazines, a black 9mm semi-automatic "CZ" brand handgun, and two bags of ammunition.

After finding the guns, police say they learned Shaughnessy was not licensed to carry a firearm or ammunition in Massachusetts.
Shaughnessy was taken into custody without incident and placed under arrest, police say.
