Tewksbury PD: Jr. Police Academy Registration Now Open
The free program is for kids going into 5th-8th grade and will cover topics like fitness, criminal investigations, cyber security and CPR.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury Police Department on Tuesday announced the opening of registration for this third annual Jr. Police Academy.
The free program, which is open to Tewksbury residents entering 5th grade through 8th grade, is scheduled to have two sessions this summer: July 17-21 and July 24-28, both at Tewksbury Memorial High School. Registration is available online. There also is a waiver and consent form that parents or guardians must sign.
The academy will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day and lunch will not be provided.

The academy is for children interested in learning more about law enforcement. Among the topics covered at the academy will be: physical fitness, health and wellness, criminal law, investigations, cyber safety, CPR and first aid, drug and alcohol awareness, domestic violence, motor vehicle law and mental health.
Attendees also will be introduced to the department's K-9 Unit and Drone Unit.

Organizers said the academy will feature numerous hands-on activities to help students understand the content.
Students in the program will receive a t-shirt and hat, and they will be required to wear those uniforms at all times during the academy.
"We are very excited about this year's academy and can't wait to see all the new and returning faces. Feel free to share and spread the word to other Tewksbury friends and families," Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus said.
