Tewksbury Reports Over 300 Confirmed Cases, Remains High Risk
The town reported 356 confirmed and probable coronavirus cases and had a positive test rate above 7 percent over the last two weeks.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury remained high risk in the latest state update Thursday and the town reported over 350 confirmed and probable active cases Friday.
The town's positive test rate rose to 7.12 percent over the last two weeks, up from 5.06 in last week's report. It added 303 cases in that period, for 70.21 average daily cases per 100,000 residents.
The town reported Friday that it has 348 confirmed and 8 probable active cases. The vast majority, 303 confirmed and 6 probable, are community cases. Twenty-one confirmed cases are at the State Hospital and the remainder are in unknown locations, the town reported.

The latest cases bring the town to 1,414 cases, and 83 deaths, since the virus arrived in the region in the spring.
In the last two weeks, there were 343 positive tests in Tewksbury, out of 4,817 tests conducted.

Tewksbury was one of 158 Massachusetts communities on the high-risk list Thursday, up from 97 a week ago. Over 80 percent of cities and towns reported rising positive test rates and nearly half had positive rates above 5 percent.
Statewide, there were 50 average daily cases per 100,000 residents.
