Tewksbury Rolling Out New Online Permitting System On Monday
OpenGov will be the online permitting system for building, health, public works and engineering, and conservation permit applications.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Town of Tewksbury has announced that it is rolling out its online permitting system at the beginning of next week.
Effective on March 6, OpenGov will be the online permitting system for the town. Initially, the system will be used for all building, health, public works and engineering, and conservation permit applications.
Town officials said it is anticipated that departments such as the Select Board, Town Clerk and Planning will bring their applications online in the next few years.

Using the new system, applications can be filed online, and applicants can follow along with the permitting process as departments sign off and inspections are completed, officials said.
"Other communities such as North Andover, Burlington and Marlborough have rolled out this system (OpenGov) with great success," Tewksbury officials said in a statement.

Tewksbury officials also noted that contractors already registered with OpenGov in other communities will have credentials to apply for permits in Tewksbury with their license information incorporated.
The process of moving toward online permitting actually began last June and was carried out by Town of Tewksbury staff members, officials said.
Though most of the historical data migration has been completed ahead of next week's launch, Tewksbury officials said residents and contractors should expect some delays as in-progress permits are adjusted for the new system.
Once the new permitting software is rolled out, contractors who have used the Department of Public Works and Building Department's limited online permitting should stop using those links, officials said.
Anyone having trouble applying for permits online or with questions about the status of current permits is asked to contact the department with which they have an application. General questions about the permitting system should be directed to Assistant Town Manager Steve Sadwick at ssadwick@tewksbury-ma.gov.
