Tewksbury Voters Praise Town's Handling Of Election

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury voters praised the city's conduct of the 2020 presidential election, in response to a callout from Patch.

Whether they voted by mail or in person, voters said that it was easy and quick, with no challenges.

Massachusetts expanded voting methods in 2020 in response to the coronavirus, allowing two weeks of early voting and giving all voters the option of voting by mail, without an excuse. New procedures were also put in place for in-person voting, including additional cleaning, to reduce the risk of the virus.

Voters said in-person voting was quick and convenient, despite the new procedures.

"Everyone was courteous," Diane Namaste said. "They cleaned booths and pens. Great group of people"

"Tewksbury seems to always have it together with elections," said Keith Johnson. "I've never been in a line for any election and been voting here for over 15 years."

"I went to the Recreation Center at Livingston in Tewksbury to vote," Pam Lucchesi said. "I got there around 1:10 and there was no line whatsoever. Checking in and out was easy like usual."

Kathy Morris, who voted at the same polling place as Lucchesi, said she was in and out in less than five minutes.

The town beat its 2016 turnout by over 1,000 votes, with more than 77 percent of registered voters casting ballots. Tewksbury voters backed Democrats up and down the ballot, pulling the lever for former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Ed Markey, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton and state Reps. Tram Nguyen and Dave Robertson.
