Arlene Barnoth won a $10 million grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "40th Anniversary Millions" instant game, Mass. Lottery officials announced last week. Barnoth is the first lucky player to win one of the five $10 million prizes available in the game, which features $20 tickets. According to Lottery officials, the winning ticket was purchased at Nouria Energy/Tewksbury Shell Station at 1975 Main St. in Tewksbury. The store will receive a $50,000 commission on the sale. "40th Anniversary Millions" tickets began being sold in April, as part of the Lottery's 40th anniversary celebration. According to Lottery officials, Barnoth is self-employed. She opted to receive the lump-payment cash option on the prize, which was $6.5 million before taxes. Barnoth, who could not immediately be reached for comment, told Lottery officials that she plans on buying a vacation home with her winnings.
