
JUNIOR DIVISION
Wamesit 26 – Comanche 6
The Wamesit bounced back in a big way with a very impressive 26-6 victory over the Comanche. Kyle Darrigo has become quite the TD machine as he rushed for 4 more TDs on the day from 8, 1, 1 and 8 yards. Cam Paolillo added 2 conversions with tough running. Both runners were helped by strong blocking by Gavin Thomasset, Santino Garofalo and Jack Meuse-Sitar.

On defense, Dominic Iannacci came up with a fumble recovery to set up a scoring drive. Colin Powers showed great speed to make a TD-saving tackle. Mike Woodford and Robbie Kimtis terrorized the Comanche in their offensive backfield all day long.
The Wamesit were cheered on by their fabulous cheerleaders as well as injured star Matt Houghton, who continues to count down the weeks until he is able to return to action.

The Tewksbury Comanche team entered the season with the youngest team in the division. They returned only three players from last year's squad. They took the field Saturday ready for a defensive battle against the Wamesit. The captains for the Comanche team were Matt Rosemond, Bobby O'hearn, and Jonathan Mansfield.
The game was well played on both sides of the ball. The Comanche team had strong runs by Rosemond who scored their only touchdown on an 18 yard run behind the blocking of offensive linemen Lucus Tryder and Jack Balboni. The Comanche defense showed great strength in preventing the long runs with the efforts of Colin Fullerton, Liam MacDonald and Billy Chase. Each week this young team is showing more improvement as they look for their first win in over three years.
Cheyenne 19 – Mohawk 7
The Cheyenne won their second game of the season beating a tough Mohawk team 19-7.
Tyler Keough had two 60 yard runs that both resulted in touchdowns. He also scored the third Cheyenne touchdown. Evan Mantel ran in the extra point. Owen Gilligan led the offense with the help of offensive lineman Brendan Lamothe, Brody Tirrell and Anthony Op.
The story of the day was the defense, holding the Mohawk to one touchdown. Evan Mantel, Jack O'Neil, Richard Lavargna and Wilson Espinal all had big tackles. Mantel also had a key fumble recovery for the Cheyenne. Caulin Martel, Danny Lightfoot, Dylan Dufresne and Anthony DeSisto also played tough on defense.
INTERMEDIATE DIVISION
Navajo 26 – Apache 6
The Navajo evened up their record with a great 26 - 6 win over a rugged Apache team. The offensive line was led by captains Chris Lucas and Anthony Medeiros along with Kyle Privetera, Connor Nugent, Jake Durant & Antonio Capelo. Together they did an exceptional job of opening holes and providing great pass protection all morning to allow the backfield to make many gains.
Trevor Nickerson led the charge with a big 35 yard gain and 15 yard touchdown run in the first quarter with outstanding lead blocking by Brandon Winn and Richie Markwarth. Fran Pino ran in for the extra point to give to the Navajo an early lead. Mason Brown and Antonio Capelo had big tackles to help hold back the Apache.
Mason Brown started the scoring in the second quarter with a speedy 60 yard punt return for the touchdown. Later in the quarter, QB Nick Resendiz threw a perfect 15 yard play action pass to Trevor Nickerson, who scrambled another 20 yards to score. Nick Resendiz plowed through the powerful front line to score the extra point giving the Navajo a 20 to 6 lead going in to halftime.
Nick Resendiz ran 40 yards up the sidelines to score in the third quarter with big help from Trevor Nickerson and Fran Pino who threw the needed blocks. Brandon Winn also had a 40 yard run in the quarter.
The defense came up big in the fourth quarter with a sack by Anthony Medeiros and tackles by Logan Singleton. Tyler Paulding and Tanner Lentz helped hold the Apache back from scoring.
Saturday the entire Apache played hard and never gave up. We were just a play or two away from our first win of the season. Shane Darrigo continues to run the football strong for the Apache. Leading the way on the offensive line were Brandon Pote, Tony Mannetta, Jared Gillis, Jacob Ferrier and Shane Noone.
Defensive standouts were Troy Acconcia, Jack Callanan, Joe Balboni, Nick Heinze, and Dominic Jolly. Players contributing on the special teams were Ryan Anderson, Jacob Garland, Nathan Jones, and Kyle Obst. The coaching staff of the Apache was proud of the way the team stuck together and played strong!
Sioux 13 – Cherokee 6
The Sioux was victorious against a tough Cherokee team. Oustanding touchdowns were made by Jesse Lamarca and Masyn Lorick. Christopher Monteneri had a key interception on defense. Other standouts on defense were made by Christopher Deschenes, David Miller, Brandon Rosa and Derek Schumaker. The team played tough and was successful in their second win of the season.
The Cherokee and Sioux met this week in a battle for first place. The Cherokee came up a bit short in the end falling 13-6 to the Sioux. Jonny Spinelli, Josh Sughrue and Cody Sughrue ran the ball tough all day, and carried out the offensive game plan. Leading the way for the running backs was the offensive line of Zack Frontain, Billy Giasuilo, Christian Erbetta, Chris Blimberg & David Asnavoorian. Defensively, the Cherokee swarmed around the ball all day. C Sughrue picked off a pass and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. Joe Dulock, Derek Graffeo, Eric Szloch, Kyle Burris, Zack Weitz & Garrett Lane played relentlessly all day against a tough Sioux offense. The Cherokee cheerleaders did a great job rooting on their team in a tough fought battle. The Cherokee will be preparing this week for their showdown with the Navajo.
SENIOR DIVISION
Chiefs 20 – Giants 19
The Chiefs took on a much improved Giants team and came out with a 20-19 victory. The Chiefs took to the air with the passing of Ryan Sughrue and the sure hands of Nate Tenaglia to combine for several receptions and two touchdowns. The offensive line of Davio Addesa, Sean Barker, Aidan Powers, CJ MacMillan, Jeffrey Pierce, Ryan Peters, Cody Souza and Patrick Wild proved protection for quarterback Ryan Sughrue.
The teams went into halftime tied 13-13, then Troy Carey scored on a 20 yard run following the fantastic blocking of fullback James Hannon. Tight end Andrew Carman had a big first down reception during the touchdown drive.
The defense led by James Hannon, Aaron Whitehouse, Robbie Hopkinson, TJ Contalonis, Ben Marshall, Billy Catyb, Christian Bennett and Nate Tenaglia continued to make life tough for the opposing offense.
Outstanding offensive players in the game were Carey, Hannon and Tenaglia. Hannon, Aaron Whitehouse and Jeffrey Pierce were outstanding on the defense. Tenaglia also was a force on special teams. Justin Keough and Michael Flynn continue to support the team. The Chiefs would like to thank the cheerleaders and parents for their support and the Giants for a terrific game.
The Giants had another close game today – this time against the Chiefs. The scoring started midway through the first quarter after a great team defensive stand by the Giants. Starting the Giants drive was a spectacular 55 yard pass to Seth Sparks, which led to a two yard touchdown from Brett Morris.
In the second quarter after a Chiefs touchdown, Tanner Scott had a nice kick return for eight yards when it looked like he had nowhere to go. Sparks came up big again with a 22 yard catch to bring the Giants into the red zone. From there Steven Rosa scored the touchdown, and Morris added the extra point.
With the score 13 to 13 at the half a whole new ball game started. A few good defensive stands from both teams left the score the same as they moved into the fourth quarter. Defensive standouts included Alex Regan at tackle, Robert Paltrineri at nose tackle, David Lindsey at corner back, David Pesantes at linebacker, and Jimmy Strickler at free safety.
The Giants scored in the fourth quarter to go up 19 to 13 off a Quarterback sneak. This was made possible by another run from Scott Patterson who got a great block from Cam Connors on the defensive end to get the ball to the outside.
Raiders 20 – Titans 19
The Raiders faced off against the Titans for their second game of the season and came away with a 20-19 victory.
The Raiders offense wasn't able to put any points on the board in the first quarter, leaving the team down 6-0 going into the second quarter. Another Titan touchdown made the score 12-0, but the Raiders Brian Nazaire received the ensuing kickoff and returned it for a 65 yard touchdown. On the Raiders next possession the offense took over pounding the ball up the middle with some great front line blocking by Evan Iftekhar, Novan Iftekhar, Mike Monahan, Joe Rosberg, Ricky Martel and Chad Oliveira leading the way for a 15 yard touchdown by Billy Tamboli to tie the game at the half.
The Raiders got the ball to start the second half. TJ Taddia took a handoff and ran 15 yards up the middle for a first down setting up Nazaire for his second touchdown of the day and putting the Raiders up 18-12.
The fourth quarter started with the Raiders being down 19-18. Brett McAllister, Tyler Ward, Matt Merrick, Jeremy Deniger, Jackson Roane, Chris Carter, Mackin MacDonald, Gavin MacDonald and Conner Kearn were continually putting pressure on the Titans offense throughout the quarter. After the Raiders offense turned the ball over on downs deep into the Titans territory, the Raiders defense rushed the Titans front line and tackled a Titan back in the end zone for a safety making the score 20-19. The Raiders offense continued to push the ball down the field. On third and long quarterback Jared Roane connected on a pass with Conner Maclean for a Raider first down. Unfortunately the Raiders turned the ball over on downs again, but their defense took over and Safety Dylan Pendleton came up with an interception to end the Titans drive securing the win for the Raiders with a final score of 20-19.
The Titans suffered their first loss of the season to the Raiders. On a perfect morning for football, the Titans and Raiders battled back and forth throughout the contest, which was decided by a safety for a 20-19 Raiders win.
The Titans offense was in midseason form, moving the ball with confidence right from the opening kickoff. The first score came after a 10 yard connection to Michael Teague on a Steven Hamel pass, bringing the ball to the 2 yard line. Teague got the call again and thumped into the end zone. The next drive saw QB Hamel directing play from the air with long receptions to Teague (17 yards) and to Steven Bonugli for another 20 yards. The effort was capped on a 1 yard sweep by Bonugli for another TD. The second half saw Bonugli again reaching the end zone by out racing the Raider defenders to the sideline and 46 more yards to the goal line. PAT was converted on a Hamel to Matthew McLaughlin pass. Additional offensive standouts were Joe White and Jake Aceto
The Titan defense was called to duty for a good portion of the game battling the grinding run attack delivered by the Raiders. Defensive lineman Colby Nowak had a 6 solo tackle performance, and was only eclipsed by the efforts of Adam Gajjaoui, who had a stellar day on the defensive side of the ball. Gajjaoui tallied 12 tackles (3 for loss of yards) and a sack. The secondary of Hamel, Bonugli and Jeff Horton were strong with the run support throughout the contest. Other Defensive stars were Dominick Desisto, Nick Torres, Paul Farias, and McLaughlin.
