Tewksbury's New Primrose School Preschool Scheduled To Open Soon

The school is independently owned and part of a national family of schools. Primrose will be able to accommodate 167 children.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Parents in Tewksbury and nearby will soon have a new education and childcare option for their pre-elementary school and kindergarten-age children.

Primrose School of Tewksbury, the independently-owned franchise of a national family of accredited schools, is scheduled to open this spring at 1497 Main St. The address is the former location of Children of America, another preschool.

Ground was broken in January on the $6.5 million school, which will accommodate 167 children when at full capacity. Tewksbury officials said Primrose is expected to create 40 jobs in town.

Primrose School of Tewksbury will be owned by husband and wife Keisha and Raul Perez, who lived in Tewksbury before moving to Andover.

"We chose to partner with Primrose Schools as we were drawn to the Primrose balanced learning approach to curriculum and strong devotion to character development," Keisha Perez said. "As parents and longtime community members living in Andover, but previously in Tewksbury, we are very excited to bring a family-oriented business to our community and offer a welcoming space for children and their families to come to every day."

Perez said the school also will be looking for additional ways to give back to the community.

"We are elated to give back to the community by regularly raising and donating funds and collecting books and canned goods as a collective effort by our faculty and students," Keisha Perez said. "We believe that teaching and instilling the value of giving without expectation will have a lifelong impact on young children."

According to Primrose, the 10,000-square-foot facility in Tewksbury will have 13 classrooms and two secure, age-appropriate playgrounds. There also will be a Primrose Patch garden for gardening and nature activities.

The renovation work at the facility, according to the school, has consisted of new fire and smoke alarms and a new security system that features sensors, cameras and access-code-only entry. The franchise owners also said they are in the process of installing new walls, floors, ceilings, furniture, fixtures and playground and play equipment. There also are new kitchen appliances.

The school currently is enrolling students and hiring faculty. More information about both enrollment and hiring is available on the Primrose School of Tewksbury website or by calling 978-866-6307.
