Thunderstorm Threat for Tewksbury Thursday Afternoon

Massachusetts is in for some wild weather Thursday afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are expected across the region from noon thursday until 8 p.m. Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The risk for stronger storms is mainly across Rhode Island and Eastern Massachusetts, with a lower risk elsewhere in southern New England.

Tewksbury should expect general thunderstorms with Thursday’s weather pattern.

The storms could produce locally heavy rainfall which will lead to localized flooding of urban and poor drainage areas.

With this storm, there is a lower threat of gusty winds and hail.
