Two Arrested on Heroin Distribution Charges

During the month of February, Tewksbury detectives began investigating a tip that a male was selling drugs at the Motel 6.

TEWKSBURY, MA - Over the weekend, Tewksbury Police arrested two individuals on heroin distribution and possession charges, after investigating a tip about an individual selling drugs at the Motel 6.

On Sunday, Feb. 28 Tewksbury Police arrested Peter Gifton, 79, of 20 Glenn Ave., Dracut for distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and possession of methadone without a prescription. Also arrested was Stephanie Hancock, 28, of 114B Squannacook Road, Shirley for possession of heroin, failure to stop for police and failure to signal.

During the month of February detectives began investigating a tip that a male was selling drugs at the Motel 6, room 226. A motor vehicle stop of Hancock, after she initially failed to stop for police, was conducted after she exited room 226. Detectives were able to locate heroin and confirm that Gifton had sold it to her.

When detectives met with Gifton at the Motel 6, additional heroin and methadone were located. Both were placed under arrest.

Both suspects were due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on Monday, Feb. 29.
