2 Officers Join Waltham Police Department

Ryan Manganelli and Dmiteiy Arkannikov joined the Waltham Police department this week.

WALTHAM, MA — Two new officers were sworn onto the force Thursday at Waltham City Hall.

Ryan Manganelli and Dmiteiy Arkannikov join the department.

Manganelli, who is in his 20s, was part of the second recruit officer class of Fitchburg State University’s new police program that prepares prospective officers with a bachelor’s and master's program in addition to a 17-week police academy.

Manganelli, who went to Waltham High School won a Waltham Centennial Scholarship Foundation award and three other awards in 2015 his senior year in school.

Arkannikov emigrated to the United States as a child from Russia and speaks fluent Russian. He is a graduate of Lexington High School, has a Bachelor's Degree from Brandeis University and went on to graduate from the Lowell Police Academy. He is also a member of the National Guard. He was sworn in as an officer in Lexington in 2016. Before that he was sworn in as an officer for the Dracut Police Department in 2014.
