Belmont Savings Bank Foundation announced today that it has donated a $10,000 grant to support the Waltham YMCA and will be sponsoring the YMCA’s monthly family events. The grant is part of a continued effort by the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation to support not-for-profit groups, institutions, schools and other organizations as a way of adding to the quality of life for people living in the communities that Belmont Savings Bank serves.
"Our foundation is delighted to give back to the Waltham community by partnering with the Waltham YMCA," said Robert Mahoney, Chief Executive Officer of Belmont Savings Bank and an officer on the Foundation’s board. “We recognize all of the good work already being done by the Waltham YMCA in the community and we wanted to support their cause. This grant and partnership will make a direct impact on local families and their children, as well as ensuring the ongoing works of the Waltham YMCA continue into the near future.”

The YMCA has been supplementing low-income family memberships so they have access to good reaction opportunities and ultimately good health. A portion of the $10,000 donation will go to supporting low-income families YMCA memberships. Through these memberships needy families have access to resources like free babysitting, yoga and zumba classes.
The Bank has also agreed to sponsor the YMCA’s monthly family event series. The series creates a family-friendly, fun environment for local parents and kids with themes such as Red Sox Night and a Halloween Spooktacular.

As part of this strategic partnership, the Bank has also announced a Waltham Community Rewards Checking Account. The Waltham-specific bank account is a best-in-market checking account that rewards both the account holder and the Waltham YMCA. Each new account provides a $50 donation to the Waltham YMCA, and $50 to the customer. In addition, .25% annual interest on the average monthly balance of the Waltham Community Rewards accounts is donated to the Waltham YMCA annually.
The Belmont Savings Bank Foundation, a community foundation formed when Belmont Savings Bank became a public company in October, will sponsor the Waltham YMCA ‘Back to School’ event on September 7.
