Waltham High School Girls’ Soccer To Raise Money For Dana-Farber
The Waltham team is one of eight participating so far this year.
WALTHAM, MA – Waltham High School Girls’ soccer is collecting money for an annual Dana-Farber fundraiser in partnership with the New England Revolution to benefit Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. If the team collects the most donations, the girls could win a training session with the New England Revs.
So far eight soccer programs across New England – including youth, middle and high school, college, and club teams – are participating in the fundraiser that runs through May 1, 2020. Look for the tell-tale banners, collection canisters, posters.
The "Kick for Dana-Farber" soccer teams rally their community through fundraising activities like car washes and bake sales to score the ultimate goal—conquering cancer, according to the cancer center.

Kick for Dana-Farber started in 2015 and since then it has raised more than $100K to support patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This is the first year Waltham has participated.
The Institute employs about 4,000 people supporting more than 250,000 patient visits a year, is involved in some 700 clinical trials. It has several fundraising efforts throughout the year that raise millions of dollars for research. In October the cancer institute received its largest financial gift, $63 million, from the Pan-Mass Challenge, which makes up about 54 percent of its gifts each year.
