Waltham Police To Hold Youth Academy

Want to learn to be a police officer? Check out this youth police academy.

The Waltham Police will host a one week youth police academy this summer during which kids will learn to the duties of an officer, according to the department's Facebook page.

The academy will run from July 8 to July 12 at Waltham High School. It's open to students aged 12 - 16 and starts at 8:30 a.m. each day. It ends at 2 p.m.

"The academy will give participants a chance to learn some of the things officers learn in a real police academy. Topics will include accident investigation, motor vehicle laws and car stops, drug [identification] and investigation, and much more. Each day will start off with physical training and then move on to both classroom and practical exercises," the department wrote on its Facebook page.
