Waltham RiverWalk Paths Linked, Now Open

WALTHAM, MA — For as long as anyone can remember, a stretch of riverbank from Elm Street to the Embassy parking lot has not been accessible by foot. This week, a path connecting the Landry Park to Moody Street opened behind the Edison building on Cooper Street.
City officials required the developer to build and manage a public walkway at their own expense as a condition of the special permit that allowed them to build on that land. The space also includes a public canoe and kayak launch along the shore there.
They took the construction fences down around the project at the beginning of the week, and folks have already been using the walk way.

"I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and my role in bringing it about," said former Councilor Robert Logan who worked on the project. "This creates open green space and increases public access to the Charles River."
