Weekend Waltham Fire Displaces Several
The fire department said it looks like an electric space heater may have caught a rug on fire, but it's too early to say for sure.

WALTHAM, MA — Several were without a home after a fire at a home on Charles Street broke out this weekend. The fire is still under investigation, but fire officials said the fire may have started when a bedroom space heater ignited a rug. Thankfully, no one was injured, an official said.
Crews were called to 271 Charles Street Saturday morning and early reports indicated there might be serious structural damage to the two and a half story, three unit home.
"The responding fire companies worked hard to quickly knock down the fire," according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry, who is a spokesperson for the department. "Also, due to their efficient suppression efforts they were able to contain the fire to the floor of origin and the floor above fire. "
