5 Things: Healthcare Careers, Women's Club, Unusual Location for FinCom Meeting

A few things you need to know in Wayland on Jan. 17, 2013.

1. Career Open House. Parmenter is hosting an open house today for individuals interested in careers in the healthcare industry with Parmenter. A variety of services are provided by Parmenter, including home health care, palliative care and hospice services.

2. Women's Club Meeting. Sudbury and Wayland women are invited to Goodnow Library today at noon when Nancy Kelleigh, an attorney who specializes reas of trusts and estates, gift and estate tax planning, estate administration and residential real estate conveyance, will speak about "Questions you don't think to ask."

3. Unusual Meeting Location. The Wayland Finance Commitee will meet tonight at Traditions of Wayland at 7 p.m. The FY14 budget is the primary feature on the agenda.

4. Other Meetings. The School Commitee, Housing Authority, Public Ceremonies Committee and Historic District Commission are also meeting today. Check out the Town of Wayland calendar for the details.

5. A Muscle Car's Journey. On this date in 1953, General Motors unveiled its first Corvette. According to History.com, the original price started at around $3,500 (not including taxes or an optional AM radio and heater). Just days ago, Cheverolet revealed the 2014 Corvette Stingray ... we think it kind of looks like the Bat Mobile.
